Mowery Youell & Galeano Wins Jury Trial

On Behalf of | Jan 14, 2015 | Race Discrimination

Mowery Youell & Galeano, Ltd. is pleased to report that they have successfully prevailed at trial and received a favorable jury verdict from a Franklin County jury on a race discrimination lawsuit. Our client was an African-American Ct Scan Technologist who worked at OhioHealth’s Jasonway Center. At trial, her attorneys presented evidence that the hospital system wrongfully fired her for conduct she was performing in the scope of her duties. Only a month earlier, a Caucasian Technologist was not discharged for engaging in the same conduct. The jury awarded total damages of $378,738.50, which included compensatory damages, punitive damages, and attorney fees.

Congratulations to Merl Wayman and Jim Mowery for their victory in trial. The name of the case is Rozalyn Waddell-Kenner v. Grant/Riverside Medical Care Foundation, Inc. Franklin County Case No. 13CV001272.
