Kim Kardashian files for divorce after 10 weeks of marriage

Many Ohio residents are probably of the opinion that a lot of Hollywood marriages won't last for very long, for one reason or another. However, the marriage between reality TV star Kim Kardashian and professional basketball player Kris Humphries would seem to be abnormally short, even by Hollywood standards. After only 10 weeks of marriage Kardashian filed for divorce.

The two wed on August 20th in a wedding ceremony that was reportedly a star-studded spectacle. Nonetheless, the divorce documents were filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Oct. 31. The filing cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the falling out.

The two entered into a prenuptial agreement that will most likely assist the parties in determining the division of assets. Nevertheless, the complex division of property is often a hallmark of high-asset divorces. Even though the marriage was short, the two are quite wealthy and probably share a residence and other marital property.

No matter what people think about celebrity marriages, it is important to remember that we do not know everything that goes on behind the scenes. While it may be easy to rush to judgment and think the couple got married solely for attention, they may have truly loved each other at the beginning.

Both parties will certainly benefiting from the advice of legal counsel as they move forward in the divorce proceedings. Likewise, Ohio residents considering dissolving their marriage should consider consulting with an experienced divorce attorney. The attorney may be able to assist not only with navigating the court process, but also with possible divorce mediation.
