Ohio may find child support case of man with 25 kids interesting

A man has recently gained fame as the father of 25 children. The story may be familiar to some in Ohio, as the man, who resides in another state, was ordered to court to address the reason why he has failed to pay much of his court-ordered child support. In fact, many of the mothers of the man's children appeared in court to assert that they had only been paid small amounts of child support in recent years.

It is unclear just how many of the custodial parents of the 25 kids were owed back child support. Some mothers reported that they had been paid amounts as low as $6 or $9 per month. This may have been due to the fact that the man asserted to the court that he did not have any funds with which to pay the child support that he owes.

As is the case in many in such child support matters, the custodial parents in this case have asserted that the man is hiding money in an effort to pay lower child support amounts. They point to the fact that he has purchased several cars in recent years as evidence to prove his income. However, to date, the court in this case has not appeared to have discovered any unreported income of the man.

When a non-custodial parent is ordered to pay child support, the order is mandatory and the payments must be made. In addition, in Ohio and elsewhere, the non-custodial parent must disclose all of their income in order for an accurate child support amount to be determined. When these actions, payments and disclosed income do not occur, it is the custodial parent and the children that suffer. Many appeal to the courts in an effort to ease their suffering, as happened in this recent case.
